Nottingham Comic Convention 2014 is in its second year, and will be double the size of last year’s event. We have rebranded, relocated and extended the opening hours of the event. This year we plan on having double the amount of exhibitors, double the amount of special guests and double the amount of visitors to our convention.
Last year’s event was a HUGE success! We had 70 exhibitor tables with 6 formidable comic professionals guesting. The footfall numbered between 600 and 700 people with queues forming as early as 6am and extending around the block. Feedback from exhibitors, guests and the general public has been tremendously positive and we hope to carry forward the feedback we received into this year’s event to outstrip last year.
We had a great time with our guests, Marc Laming, Lee Sullivan, John McCrea, Garen Ewing, Gary Erskine and Steve Beckett last year and the Q&A panels went down really well and we hope to emulate the interest and fun again this year.
We far exceeded our expectations for last year’s event, going to prove that a comic convention in Nottingham is in high demand. We had crowd pleasers in place, such as the UK Garrison 501st (the UK’s largest Star Wars costume group) as well as the Hellfire Harlots, Nottingham’s number 1 roller derby team.
Amongst all of the fun and laughter, there was also a serious side to the day’s entertainment and we managed to raise over £1000 for our three chosen charities, Help For Heroes, The Ear Foundation and Saying Goodbye. We aim to beat this total for our chosen charities this year.
Once again we will have numerous fun activities for all the family, including live music from some of the best local bands plus seminars and guest Q&A panels. We’ll also aim to have the 501st UK Garrison back again who will provide photo opportunities for the visitors.
